Server Installation: 64 Camera IVR
Server Installation: 64 Camera IVR
Updated over a month ago

Installing a server appliance can seem like a daunting task, but it can be done in a few simple steps. During the racking part of the install, it is better to have a partner to assist due to the size and weight of the IVR.

Spot AI Servers are heavy (80-90 lbs / 36-41 kg). Please be careful when moving or lifting to avoid injury.

Verify Equipment

When unboxing your new Spot IVR Server, verify that you received the following components:

  • One (1) Spot AI appliance

  • Two (2) Power Cables

  • One (1) Rail Kit

Rack Mountable Servers are those from the 31E, 33R, a 43R Series

Install Rail Kit and Install Server into Rack

To facilitate the Server's installation, begin by installing the provided rail kit into your server rack.

  1. Install the rail kit into the server rack.

  2. Remove the internal rails from the rail kit.

  3. Attach the internal rails to the sides of the server unit.

  4. Slide the server into the racked rails.

Connect Ethernet Cable

The ethernet ports and port configuration can differ slightly depending on the model in use. However, both have four (4) available LAN networking ports, and one (1) management port. Any of the four LAN ports can be used to connect the server to the internet connection or the camera connection, they all function the same way. When connecting multiple ethernet cables, make sure that they are not receiving an IP address via DHCP from the same subnet as that can cause routing confusion and overall instability.

Please do not install anything in the management (MGMT or BMC) port without guidance from support as this is only used for troubleshooting.

For information on recommended network topologies, please see: Understanding Spot AI Recommended Network Topologies

Connect Power Cable

The server is shipped with two power cables, and two ports to connect them to. Only one power cable is required for functionality. If both power cables are connected it is suggested that they be connected to a battery backup or a different phase for redundancy.

Once the power is connected, the server will automatically power on. If it does not, a short (1-3 second) press of the power button is all that's required.

Register Server on Spot Dashboard

Once the server is powered up, and online, it's time to register the server to your Spot Dashboard. A full walkthrough guide of how to register an appliance is available at: Step 4: Register and Connect the Spot AI IVR. The serial number required for registration is printed on a white sticker, with black writing, on the top right front corner of the server.
