Uniview cameras set up

Some Uniview cameras come with a static IP address in the 172.x.x.x range.

To allow us to scan and discover the cameras on the network, the cameras need to be configured to use DHCP so they can obtain an IP address from the local network.

Once DHCP is enabled, we can scan the network and identify the cameras.

UNIVIEW Cameras – Initial Setup

To allow the cameras to be discovered and scanned on the customer network, each camera needs to be changed from a static IP to DHCP.

Initial Setup

  1. Connect the camera

    • Connect the Uniview camera to the PoE switch.

    • Connect your laptop to the same PoE switch/network.

  2. Set your laptop to the same subnet

    • Configure your laptop with an IP address on the same subnet as the camera's static IP.

    • This allows you to access the camera's web interface.

  3. Log in to the camera

    • Open a web browser and enter the camera's static IP address.

    • Log in using: Camera IP 172.x.x.x

      • Username: admin

      • Password: 123456

  4. Accept the Terms and Conditions

    • On the initial login, accept the required Terms and Conditions.

    • Set camera with new password: Make sure to remember the new password, since same need to be used on dashboard>>camera scan

    • Set country

  5. Change the network setting to DHCP

    • Navigate to the camera's Network Settings.

    • Change the IP assignment from Static to DHCP.

    • Save/apply the changes.

  6. Reconnect the camera to the customer network

    • Once DHCP is enabled, the camera will obtain an IP address from the customer's DHCP server

    • The camera can then be discovered/scanned on the network.

    • On dashboard make sure to change new username and password and click on authenticate

Important

All Uniview cameras should be configured for DHCP before shipping or deploying them to a customer site. This allows the Spot system to discover the cameras when they are connected to the customer's network.
