Resolving Duplicate IP or Conflicting IP Issues
Resolving Duplicate IP or Conflicting IP Issues
Updated this week

Issues

If two IP cameras have the same IP address or one of the cameras conflicts with IVR IP on the same network, you may encounter the following issues:

  1. Network Conflicts – The cameras will interfere with each other, preventing proper communication with the network. Cameras will go on and off

  2. Intermittent Connectivity – One or both cameras may keep disconnecting as the network struggles to resolve the conflict.

  3. Inaccessible Cameras – You may be unable to access one or both cameras, if conflicting with IVR IP, IVR will randomly go offline

  4. Video Stream Issues – You might only see footage from one camera while the other remains unavailable. Or two cameras streaming the same footage

  5. Performance Degradation – Network congestion and slowdowns may occur due to conflicting data packets.

Resolution

  • If multiple devices are experiencing IP conflicts, there may be an issue with the DHCP server. Try rebooting the DHCP server to resolve the issue.

  • Restart the affected device to allow it to obtain a new IP address.

  • In the router settings, assign a reserved IP address to each device based on its MAC address to prevent future conflicts.

  • Consider setting devices with static IP addresses where necessary.

Any footage which is lost due to IP conflict, cannot be recovered after fixing the issue
